Dirt Cheap Hacking Tools Blog

I started working on what would become #Glitchy years ago, before the pandemic even started. There have been ups and downs in this process, and while it is finally in a finished state and the prototype is sitting right here on my desk as I type this, I think this may be the end for it.

In the time since I started working on this, the RP2040 and RP2350 have been proven out and built into far more feature-rich and capable tools than the #Glitchy would have been even at max feature creep, and the #GlitchyV2 would have been a poor competitor to these now existing products.

My reasoning for trying to develop this into a product, and in fact the original product idea for Dirt Cheap Hacking Tools, was to diffuse the tactic of bootloader flash glitching, and democratize access to a purpose-built tool for it. In that spirit, I had intended to sell them for $20/ea and in kits with #DirtCheapProbes for $40. This feels like a waste of copper and FRS to have manufactured when things like the Faultier and PicoGlitcher exist and no longer seem plagued by supply issues, even if the Faultier is used as an afterthought to sales of class seats.

I am sorry if you had been waiting on this, I suggest getting a PicoGlitcher instead!

While it is sad to put this one on the shelf, it frees up a lot of time for other projects. Stay tuned for things like #ESP32anza, #LoRaPirateCasino, #PhoneBadge, #PayphoneBackpack, #DirtCheapProbeV2, #DirtCheapVise, #FediOrnament and more!
